
Tumbleweeds Equestrian Camp is more than horse camp. Young ladies are thrown into a ranch experience that can’t help but develop teamwork, confidence, disciplice and respect for all things.
Campers experience intense horsemanship in both western and English riding disciplines taught by certified CHA instructors.
We welcome all levels of abilities from the first time rider to the more seasoned and experienced. Campers leave our ranch with new found skills in leadership, self-respect and a deep sense of accomplishment
Our program differs from other “horse camps” in that we concentrate on having campers on horses longer than most.
At least 4 Hours of horseback riding a day. Over 20 hours a week! The best part is that the girls are completely immersed in horse life as the entire herd lives right outside their front doorstep.
All campers at Tumbleweeds will be responsible for some aspect of the ranch, including daily food preparation and clean up after meals, equine chores such as grooming horses or mucking stalls.
As the sun sets, the ranch hands can be seen sitting around a campfire eating S’mores, singing songs, and laughing about the adventures of that day.
Campers will sleep in our comfortable guest cabin with counsellors. (Counsellors are female for this program.) The camp bunkhouse has two fully functional washroom facilities with showers, a commercial kitchen and dining room. All meals are prepared according to Canada Food Guide and safety standards by certified staff members.
For the camper who has been to the ranch a few times and is looking to “step-up” their skill set, we offer a mentoring program that qualified young ladies can experience. An apprenticeship introduction, the ladies will shadow instructors learning valuable teaching methods and animal husbandry. They will be given guidance and opportunity to teach a lesson on their own following a prepared outline. They will develop their public speaking and interpersonal skills to a whole new level. Our summer camp program is certified with the Manitoba Camping Association and we are pleased to offer six weeks for the 2015 season.
